Sports Focus Physiotherapy offers a range of high quality remedial massage. A wide variety of massage techniques are used to ensure that every Sports Focus client receives the specific treatment they require. These encompass deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, sports massage, reflexology, trigger point release, and passive stretching.

James graduated from his Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science in 2018 before proceeding to complete his Masters in Physiotherapy in 2020. He has worked as a personal trainer and currently holds a Level 1 Accreditation as a Sports Trainer. His passion for physiotherapy was stemmed through his own rehabilitation from his own injuries that he sustained when he was younger playing sports. This has inspired him to take a holistic approach, focusing on treating each patient as an individual to help them reach their goals.

He has previous experience in rehabbing various patients including acute post-operative patients to your weekend warriors.

James is also an avid sports player. He has competed in several powerlifting Australia sanctioned competitions and is currently competing in local Oztag and Volleyball competitions.

Tony graduated from the Australian Institute of Fitness with a Diploma of Remedial Massage in 2020. He has a high interest in sport. Since graduating, he has worked with elite athletes from multiple sporting codes including the Australian Kangaroos and PNG Rugby League teams, NZ Rugby 7’s, and Cricket NSW.

He specialises in manual therapy techniques including deep tissue massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy. In addition, he practices dry needling and cupping to help his patients feel more relaxed and reduced pain symptoms

Outside the clinic, he is an avid Oztag player having competed at various NSW State Cup and has represented Vietnam at the 2018 ITF World Cup.

Alyson has been working with Sports Focus Physiotherapy since she graduated in 2009. Alyson has experience dealing with a multitude of different injuries including acute, chronic, work related and sporting injuries. She has a focus on exercise prescription for ‘stability of the low back and pelvic region with a special focus on “pelvic floor safe” exercises.

Although having experience in all areas of physiotherapy Alyson has an interest and specific training in Women’s Health Physiotherapy. Alyson treats a variety of conditions including incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain, back pain and pelvic floor retraining.

Alyson is the maternity physiotherapist at Sydney South West Private Hospital in Liverpool teaching the antenatal classes alongside the midwives and providing post-natal education and pelvic floor exercises weekly. Follow-up private consultations are provided as indicated.

Lauren graduated from her Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science in 2011 and then completed her Doctor of Physiotherapy at Macquarie University in 2015. Since then, she has been working in private practice, aged care, and at the RAAF base in Richmond. Lauren has experience with hydrotherapy and believes this is largely beneficial for injury rehabilitation, post-operative surgery, chronic disease management and cardiovascular fitness.

Lauren’s main interest lies within sports physiotherapy and she currently works with the Mounties Wanderers Football Club. Other interests include psychology, nutrition and biomechanics. Away from work, Lauren likes to swim, do any kind of water sport, and loves spending time with her dog!

With over 28 years of Professional Physiotherapy experience, Andrew Hughes was amongst the first group of Physiotherapists to attain the title “Sports Physiotherapist” in Australia. In 1992, Andrew became the founding Director and owner of Sports Focus Physiotherapy through their first practice in Liverpool, NSW. He still treats patients at our Liverpool Physiotherapy location as well as Wynyard Physiotherapy.

Andrew has had numerous team appointments throughout his distinguished career, including The Australian Men’s Volleyball Team, Football Federation Australia (FFA), Australian Beach Socceroos Team, NSW Cricket Team, NSW Hockey team, NSW Soccer Team, NSL soccer champions – Marconi Stallions and consultant appointments to Australian Triathlon and the NSW Institute of Sport. Andrew is currently Team Physiotherapist for the Hakoah, Sydney City East Football Club in the NSW Premier League 1.

Andrew has been appointed as a Sports Physiotherapist to numerous Australian Teams competing at major world sporting events including the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, 1995 World University Games, numerous World Volleyball Championships and World Cups, 2013 and 2017 Maccabiah Games.

Andrew lectures nationally and internationally on Sports Medicine related topics and is a successful inventor of Orthopaedic Bracing Technologies.

Lesa Hogan began at Sports Focus Physiotherapy Castle Hill soon after it opened in 2005. Lesa graduated from the University of Sydney in 1986 and has been a practicing Physiotherapist for 34 years working initially in the public system then combining travel and work in England for a few years before returning to begin working as a private practitioner in Sydney. She owned and operated her own practice in Guildford for 13 years and as part of this developed and a Movement Improvement program for dealing with chronic pelvis, back and neck pain which has fed into “Spine Care” at our Castle Hill Physiotherapy location. Lesa also worked as a Clinical Supervisor with Sydney University and an “Enhanced Primary Care” lecturer at the University of Western Sydney.

Her Spine Care at Castle Hill entails a functional core and spinal exercise and stretching regime individually tailored for each client’s needs. It follows a thorough hands on assessment and treatment consultation and has proven very successful in the management of many spinal conditions. Olivia graduated with a Masters of Physiotherapy in 2015 and has been in private practice since, along with being heavily involved in women’s sport. She is also Sports level 2 accredited.

Olivia is currently in her third season working with the Western Sydney Wanderers W-League and this role has allowed her to become involved with the Future Matilda’s academy based in Sydney. She has also toured Asia with the U20s Young Matilda’s.

Olivia has a keen interest for rehabbing all types of sporting injuries and post-operative rehabilitation

Michael joined Sports Focus Physiotherapy, Liverpool as an Exercise Scientist working closely with his patients on their individualised rehabilitative exercise and return-to-work programs in the pool, gym and workplace. During this time he completed his Masters of Physiotherapy at University of Sydney and now enjoys helping his patients return to full function after injury with a combination of hands-on Physiotherapy and Exercise prescription. Michael’s clinical interests include musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy and he works with numerous sporting teams including Mounties Wanderers Football Club and various representative Football Federation Australia teams.

Michael is based at our Liverpool Physiotherapy location and works closely with a team of Physiotherapists, massage therapists and Orthopaedic surgeons.
