Sports Focus Physiotherapy have introduced a Covid Safety fee of $3.30 with each consultation from the 27th September 2021.

Our commitment to all clients and our team members is to offer our essential services in a Covid safe manner following best practice. As a result there are a number of costs relating to specific Covid hygiene practices, PPE and additional cleaning that have significantly added to the cost of providing our services. As a business we want to be transparent and we are sure you will appreciate and understand the need to implement this fee during this challenging period.

Massage Therapy

Sports Focus Physiotherapy offers a range of high quality remedial massage. A wide variety of massage techniques are used to ensure that every Sports Focus client receives the specific treatment they require. These encompass deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, sports massage, reflexology, trigger point release, and passive stretching.

Alyson has been working with Sports Focus Physiotherapy since she graduated in 2009. Alyson has experience dealing with a multitude of different injuries including acute, chronic, work related and sporting injuries. She has a focus on exercise prescription for ‘stability of the low back and pelvic region with a special focus on “pelvic floor safe” exercises.

Although having experience in all areas of physiotherapy Alyson has an interest and specific training in Women’s Health Physiotherapy. Alyson treats a variety of conditions including incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain, back pain and pelvic floor retraining.

Alyson is the maternity physiotherapist at Sydney South West Private Hospital in Liverpool teaching the antenatal classes alongside the midwives and providing post-natal education and pelvic floor exercises weekly. Follow-up private consultations are provided as indicated.

Michael joined Sports Focus Physiotherapy, Liverpool as an Exercise Scientist working closely with his patients on their individualised rehabilitative exercise and return-to-work programs in the pool, gym and workplace. During this time he completed his Masters of Physiotherapy at University of Sydney and now enjoys helping his patients return to full function after injury with a combination of hands-on Physiotherapy and Exercise prescription. Michael’s clinical interests include musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy and he works with numerous sporting teams including Mounties Wanderers Football Club and various representative Football Federation Australia teams.

Michael is based at our Liverpool Physiotherapy location and works closely with a team of Physiotherapists, massage therapists and Orthopaedic surgeons.

With over 28 years of Professional Physiotherapy experience, Andrew Hughes was amongst the first group of Physiotherapists to attain the title “Sports Physiotherapist” in Australia. In 1992, Andrew became the founding Director and owner of Sports Focus Physiotherapy through their first practice in Liverpool, NSW. He still treats patients at our Liverpool Physiotherapy location as well as Wynyard Physiotherapy.

Andrew has had numerous team appointments throughout his distinguished career, including The Australian Men’s Volleyball Team, Football Federation Australia (FFA), Australian Beach Socceroos Team, NSW Cricket Team, NSW Hockey team, NSW Soccer Team, NSL soccer champions – Marconi Stallions and consultant appointments to Australian Triathlon and the NSW Institute of Sport. Andrew is currently Team Physiotherapist for the Hakoah, Sydney City East Football Club in the NSW Premier League 1.

Andrew has been appointed as a Sports Physiotherapist to numerous Australian Teams competing at major world sporting events including the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, 1995 World University Games, numerous World Volleyball Championships and World Cups, 2013 and 2017 Maccabiah Games.

Andrew lectures nationally and internationally on Sports Medicine related topics and is a successful inventor of Orthopaedic Bracing Technologies.

I am a Remedial massage therapist and Aromatherapist originally from Canberra where I have lived for the majority of my life.

I have been a therapist for 23 years, gaining my qualifications at the Canberra Tafe and my Aromatherapy qualifications at a private school in Goulburn.

During my career as massage therapist I have worked both for other businesses in Canberra as well for myself.

As a massage therapist I have provided clients with therapeutic services through relaxation, pregnancy and remedial massage in the clinic. I also undertook the provision of seated massage services in the workplace for some long- standing clients and incidental contracts as they occured.

Some of those workplaces for seated massage services included : Defence staff at Russel offices, Chief ministers offices, Procurement solutions, Canberra hospital massaging staff at Sterilization services, various Legal offices, National Archives Canberra as well as various childcare places massaging child care workers.

I applied my skills to a wide variety of clients, more commonly those suffering with chronic pain, pregnancy discomfort, stress and anxiety as well as post- operative and general rehabilitation work. From this I developed a string following of clients asking specifically for my services.

James graduated from his Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science in 2018 before proceeding to complete his Masters in Physiotherapy in 2020. He has worked as a personal trainer and currently holds a Level 1 Accreditation as a Sports Trainer. His passion for physiotherapy was stemmed through his own rehabilitation from his own injuries that he sustained when he was younger playing sports. This has inspired him to take a holistic approach, focusing on treating each patient as an individual to help them reach their goals.

He has previous experience in rehabbing various patients including acute post-operative patients to your weekend warriors.

James is also an avid sports player. He has competed in several powerlifting Australia sanctioned competitions and is currently competing in local Oztag and Volleyball competitions.
